HELPFUL INFO: GETTING THERE / TRANSPORTATION / AIRPORT PICKUP / DROP
From the eastern United States, you can fly from bigger cities like New York, Boston, Washington DC to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, New Delhi, Doha then to Kathmandu. You can do similar routes from western coast if you live in the western United States. Please check with the Indian Embassy or airlines before flying into India as they may require a visa to go beyond the Indian Immigration and to go outside the airport, however you do not need a visa if you stay at the Airport Transit area, you do need to show your ticket to Nepal to airline staff and after getting confirmation from airline staff, they can bring you to the transit area. Once you arrive at the Kathmandu Airport, you would take a quick walk inside the airport terminal then you would pick a line for non-Nepalese citizens or tourists where you have to show passport, Nepal visa form with a photo, pay fee of about $30 and once you get clearance from the Nepal Immigration, you would walk down the stairs to first floor for baggage pick up. You can get a visa right away at the Kathmandu airport including visa form and photo however it will be helpful if you print a form and fill it out ahead of arrival. Once you pick up your baggage, you go through a Nepal Custom then you will have to look for our staffs who will be holding a sign with your name. Please note that as soon as you pass through the Nepal Custom, you will see a lot of people waiting outside and once you are out of the terminal, some people might approach to you and offer their help, sometime even if you say “No”, they might still try to grab your bag and if you become little nicer and let them touch your bag, they will expect you to give them some money. Please just simply say “No” if you don’t recognize the person and if you don’t need the help. When you decide to use our service, all of the arrangements will be made ahead like knowing the flight time, airlines and other details so that you would be picked up on time. It is only about 15 minutes drive from the airport to our lodging facility.
