Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread good will and compassion into all pervading space.They are traditionally hung outside where the wind blows at sacred and spiritual places such as mountains, temples and gardens. It is seen as a good omen to give prayer flags as a gift and it is a good sign when the flag colors fade. The flags are arranged in a specific order from left to right. Blue- sky, White- air, Red- fire, Green- Water, Yellow- Earth
