Athlete Highlight: Nima Doma Sherpa

Nima Doma Sherpa is a mother of two children, mountaineer, US Sherpa guide and brand ambassador. She became a widow after losing her husband Chirring Ongchu Sherpa in a climbing accident on Mt. Everest in 2014 and overnight became a sole breadwinner and caregiver for her two young children. Despite this tragedy and hardship, she, along with another widow Fura Diki Sherpa set out to start the "Two Widows Project" in 2018 and successfully completed their mission of climbing Everest in 2019. Their goal was to honor their husbands' dream of summiting Everest, to combat the discrimination of widows in Nepal, and to empower other widows who are currently facing the hardships of these social barriers. US Sherpa has now successfully sponsored Nima Doma to come visit the USA and share her powerful and inspiring stories to our outdoors communities. We are beyond proud and honored.
