US Sherpa X Sagarmatha Next

Sagarmatha Next aims to change the perception around waste and provide support to the local stakeholders of the region, by bringing innovative and sustainable solutions for solid waste management. Their initiative transforms Himalayan waste into art and design. It educates visitors and locals on waste reuse through an experience center. The project utilizes a crowdsourced system for waste removal and collaborates with artists to create sculptures from collected materials.

US Sherpa founder and CEO, Ongyel Sherpa, was lucky enough to meet Sagarmatha Next co-founder, Tommy Gustafsson in 2024, and then again on his most recent trip to the Everest region and get a tour of the experience center. US Sherpa beleives strongly in the mission of Sagamatha Next. Trash and the improper disposal of trash in a huge problem in Nepal and in Nepal's mountains and the work to educate people and reuse discarded objects is close to our hearts.
